obnam should accept SIZE values as well as TIME values for the --checkpoint option. For instance:
obnam backup $HOME --checkpoint=5min
This would be very handy for connections which vary a lot in speed and quality.

While I agree this would be useful, I am afraid I haven't made any move towards implementing it, and as such, keeping the bug open isn't helping me manage the bug list. If anyone really wants this, sending a patch (even a proof of concept one) would be effective, though. --liw
